Dear Friend:

SUBJECT: TRUE GRID and the 2010 Grey Cup Festival in Edmonton

This is an invitation for you to get involved in a truly innovative event during this year's Grey Cup Festival in Edmonton - a theatre production that blends football and the arts. At the same time, you'll be supporting a very worthwhile cause: The CFL Alumni Dire Needs Fund. Here is our plan.

True Grid: The Play
A one-act play set in the stands and taken from the viewpoint of fiercely devoted fans, True Grid offers a humourous and empathetic view of the grassroots fan experience that so many thousands of Canadians enjoy. Audiences and critics loved True Grid at the 2007 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. Whether a rabid fan or a Grey Cup rookie; a theatre patron or simply theatre-curious, True Grid provides an opportunity to show your colours and share a universal fan experience in the midst of Canada' richest tradition - The 98th Grey Cup Festival. There will be three performances during the Festival. See when, where, and what the critics said about True Grid at www.lue42.com/truegrid2010.

The Grey Cup Festival
Commissioner Mark Cohon refers to the Canadian Football League as accessible, affordable, and an authentic part of Canadian culture. True Grid embodies our Commissioner's words and bridges two distinct but important aspects of our culture - sports and theatre. Thousands of visitors will be in Edmonton for Canada's largest festival November 24-28, 2010. Many events are planned, and a one act-play will certainly round out the variety. See all the events at www.greycupfestival2010.com/events.

The CFL Alumni Dire Needs Fund
Since its inception at Grey Cup 2008, the CFL Alumni Association has focused on several goals, but utmost is raising money to establish an Alumni Dire Needs Fund. This fund is intended to help alumni and their families during times of financial or medical hardship. The CFL Alumni Association, the Edmonton Eskimos Alumni Association, and the Edmonton Eskimos are behind True Grid financially and in spirit. Proceeds from True Grid, after expenses, will be donated to the Dire Needs Fund. These alumni are our heroes, and we want to help. Check out the CFL Alumni and their good work at www.cflaa.ca.

Your Welcome Involvement
Not only are you sure to enjoy the play, but we are asking you to help make True Grid and the Edmonton Grey Cup Festival a success. Your sponsorship, your donation, or your advertisement would help us reach our goal of covering the show's expenses before we open the doors. That way, we can maximize our donation to the CFL Alumni Dire Needs Fund. Or perhaps with game tickets sold out, you'd like to use True Grid as an affordable, fun way to recognize your employees or clients in the midst of Grey Cup week festivities. True Grid will play at the Milner Library Theatre, in the heart of Huddletown, the Grey Cup Festival zone. It runs 75 minutes with a cash bar an hour prior.

Please see below for more information on how you can get involved with True Grid. Also, please consider passing this along to your colleagues and friends. We will be in touch. Thank you and have a happy Grey Cup!
